Technology Notes

Web 2.0 part 1 (Session 3)

I have been looking forward to this presentation for quite some time now and I am very excited that this week has finally arrived. We meet as a cohort for an hour about once a month to discuss integrating technology in the classroom (not enough time!!!!) and I am hoping that introducing blogging as a tool will allow us to continue the discussion throughout the month.Agenda 11.29.07

We started the presentation off by defining Web 2.0 and looking at some Web 2.0 applications. During the presentation I explained what blogging is, how educators are using blogs as a collaborative tool and how educators are using blogs in the classroom.

We then went down to the tech lab and used my blogroll as a jumping off point to explore.

Some of the faculty used the time to continue working with PowerPoint while others started viewing other educator blogs. One member of our cohort even used the time to sign up for his own blog :)

Next meeting I plan on starting our discussion by sharing some of the PowerPoints that our teachers have been working on. I think that it will be helpful for our cohort members to see how others are using PPT so that they can get more ideas to implement in their own classes.

I am also looking forward to making another presentation to our faculty advisors (similar to department chairs) as well as our administration. Blogging would be a great way for us as a school community to share ideas and collaborate on projects especially on the department level. Since we have such a large faculty department blogs would make it more convenient to communicate with each other and share resources.
